After graduating from high school, West became the editorial assistant at a small publishing house. Soon after, she became a worker for a children's book "packaging company" and wrote her first book, Spies and Lies (Nancy Drew).
In 2005, West married Bill Hancock; a friend from high school. As of today, she continues to live with Bill Hancock, as well as three dogs, one cat, and three step-children.[1]
