Poptropica Wiki:Canon policy

From Poptropica Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

Fanon on this wiki is easy to understand: We don't allow it. Canon, however, is a little bit more difficult to explain. That's why there's a canon policy. If you have any questions, contact an admin.

How to know

This wiki considers anything officially released by Poptropica or any affiliated third parties to be canon - this applies to books, games, comics, etc. Canon material does not always match up, which you can read about in the next section. However, material released by Poptropica developers may or may not be canon. As things change throughout game development, information can change as well. Only already released official content can be canon - unless the early development content does not vary from the released content, or is stand alone early development content.

Another issue is different universes - sometimes, islands can be sponsored and be in totally different universes with characters from books. This creates confusion as timelines and features may not match up. So, when writing articles about characters, scenes, and items from different universes, you should make it clear that these characters are not from the Poptropica universe.

Inconsistency and Continuity

Poptropica as a brand does not have an apparent underlying story, and as such is not known for it's consistency. Characters may appear in different places, islands in different eras, and sometimes stories might not even match up.

Because of this, in the storyline section of character pages, you can add multiple sub-headings titled "Role in (insert island)". Islands may be disregarded, and stories just listed as told and possibly noted if needed.
